BIOGRAPHY

  • Dr. Rim is a Director of the Mesenchymal Stem Cell Research Center and Research & Development Center in the CHA Advanced Research Institute of CHA Medical & Bio Group, Korea. He received his BSc from Seoul National University and MSc, and Ph.D. (Biochemistry) from the School of Veterinary at Seoul National University. After the completion of the Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship at Johns Hopkins University (Medicine-Nephrology), he started his research career at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center, Louisiana State University as an instructor. Before joining CHA Medical & Bio Group, he worked as a Director of Research and Development at NuPotential, USA, a Biotech company to develop a technology in Somatic cell reprogramming (iPSC and Cell Fate). Dr. Rim's current research programs focus on the commercialization of the Fetal Mesenchymal Stem Cell-based cell therapy for rare and intractable diseases such as Osteogenesis Imperfecta, Non-union, and McCune Albright Syndrome.

    Before joining CHA Advanced Research Institute, Dr. Rim experienced over 20 years of Research and Development at the Academic and Industry sectors. He was appointed Instructor of Molecular Genetics Lab of Pennington Biomedical Research Center (1998-2007), Director of Research and Development at NuPotential, Inc. (2007- 2016), and Principal Investigator in the Lab of Avian Primordial Germ Cell Cloning at Seoul National University (2016-2016), Director of Stem Cell Research Institute at Cha Biotech (2016-2018). He was awarded multiple research grants including Juvenile Diabetes Foundation International, Center for Biomedical Research Excellence (NIH), STTR (NIH), SBIR (NIH), and Korea Fund for Regenerative Medicine.
